Bolt Taxi app set for Abu Dhabi launch within weeks as ride options expand
DTC partnership strengthens expansion following Dubai launch and acquisition deal
ABU DHABI – Bolt is preparing to introduce its taxi booking service in Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks, adding another major ride-hailing option for residents and visitors in the capital.
The app has already begun a soft launch for limousine bookings, marking its early presence in the city’s premium transport segment.
Group CEO Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi confirmed that the taxi service rollout is next in line. Once active, users will be able to open the app, select a pick-up point, and be connected with a nearby driver within moments.
The development comes as Abu Dhabi continues to diversify its transport network, blending traditional taxis with emerging digital mobility solutions.
Soft launch
The expansion builds on Bolt’s growing partnership with Dubai Taxi Company (DTC), which first introduced the platform in Dubai in late 2024. The collaboration has since evolved, supported by DTC’s broader investment strategy, including a Dh1.45 billion deal to acquire National Taxi.
According to company leadership, integrating Bolt into Abu Dhabi’s taxi ecosystem will allow multiple operators to participate in a unified booking system, increasing availability and efficiency.
The app’s interface remains consistent with other ride-hailing platforms, designed for quick bookings completed in seconds, strengthening its appeal in a fast-growing urban environment where demand for reliable transport continues to rise.
Mobility shift
Abu Dhabi’s wider transport landscape is also undergoing rapid transformation, with Bolt’s arrival adding to a series of technological upgrades. Robotaxi services are already operating in selected districts including Khalifa City, Masdar City and Rabdan, offering driverless mobility options in designated zones.
Meanwhile, flying taxis are being tested as part of long-term urban mobility trials, signalling further change on the horizon.
Although no official launch date has been announced for Bolt’s taxi service, it is expected to go live within weeks, aligning with increased seasonal demand during the summer months when convenient transport becomes essential across shopping districts, attractions and dining hubs.
