UAE braces for unstable weather as temperatures gradually rise until Saturday
Winds may reach 40 km/h over sea areas
DUBAI – The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast relatively unstable weather conditions across the UAE from Tuesday until 21 February, marked by humid mornings, shifting winds and a gradual rise in temperatures.
Several areas are expected to experience fog or mist at dawn, while cloud cover may increase at times, particularly in northern and eastern parts of the country. The authority indicated that temperatures will steadily edge upwards as the week progresses.
Meanwhile, the lowest temperature recorded across the country on Tuesday morning was 9.6°C at Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 4am UAE local time.
Early Tuesday began on a humid note, with a chance of fog or mist formation over some internal areas. As the day advanced, conditions turned dusty, with skies becoming partly cloudy to cloudy at times over northern and eastern regions. There is also a possibility of rainfall over the far northern areas.
Wind shift
Winds on Tuesday will be northwesterly, becoming northeasterly to southeasterly, light to moderate in speed but freshening at times over the sea. Speeds are forecast at 10 to 20 km/h, increasing to as much as 40 km/h in exposed marine areas. Sea conditions will be rough in the morning before easing to moderate to slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
On Wednesday, humid conditions are set to persist during the early hours, with fog or mist likely over some coastal and western internal areas. Daytime weather will be fair to partly cloudy. Winds will shift to southeasterly to northeasterly, blowing at 10 to 25 km/h and strengthening at times to 35 km/h. Seas in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will remain slight.
Midweek pattern
Thursday is forecast to follow a similar pattern. Morning humidity may once again lead to fog or mist in some western internal areas, while the remainder of the day will be fair to partly cloudy. Winds will continue from the southeasterly to northeasterly direction, ranging between 10 and 20 km/h and reaching up to 35 km/h at times. Sea conditions are expected to stay slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
By Friday, humid early hours will continue, particularly across coastal and western internal areas, with a probability of fog or mist formation. Skies will clear to fair or partly cloudy as the day progresses. Winds will remain light to moderate, at 10 to 20 km/h, with gusts up to 30 km/h. Marine conditions will remain slight in both bodies of water.
Weekend outlook
On Saturday, similar conditions are expected to prevail. The morning will be humid with a chance of fog or mist over some coastal and internal areas. Later in the day, weather will turn fair to partly cloudy. Winds will shift from northeasterly to northwesterly, blowing at 10 to 25 km/h and freshening at times to 35 km/h. The sea will continue to be slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
