DUBAI – Emirates has introduced what it describes as the world’s most comprehensive travel insurance product, becoming the first airline globally to offer such an extensive level of cover.

The new Comprehensive Travel Cover is designed to provide travellers with enhanced protection across a wide range of scenarios, including conflict-related medical emergencies, baggage issues, cancellations and global disruptions. Available across select markets, the offering aims to give customers greater confidence when booking and travelling, particularly during periods of uncertainty.

Backed by Travel Guard, the product expands on existing insurance benefits and adds airline-managed support services, including hotel accommodation and extended-stay assistance during disruptions. It can be purchased at the time of booking on emirates.com or added later via Manage Booking.

What are the benefits?

Under the new policy, Emirates has introduced conflict-specific protection that reimburses medical expenses of up to US$ 25,000 for incidents arising in conflict situations. The cover also includes a complimentary extension of travel of up to 30 days, ensuring passengers are not left stranded when circumstances escalate unexpectedly. In addition, the policy provides unlimited medical expense cover and emergency evacuation support worldwide, strengthening its safety net for international travellers.

Crucially, the protection applies even when government travel advice restricts movement or discourages travel to certain destinations, making it one of the most flexible offerings in the aviation sector. It also sits alongside broader benefits such as baggage delay or loss compensation and trip cancellation cover, reinforcing the overall protection framework for passengers travelling with Emirates.

Airline support

Emirates has also expanded its disruption support framework, ensuring customers receive assistance beyond traditional insurance cover. In situations where flights are disrupted, including those caused by conflict-related events or airspace closures, the airline will manage hotel accommodation for affected passengers and provide extended-stay support. Where necessary, Emirates will also rebook customers on other airlines at no additional cost to ensure they reach their destinations, even if original services are cancelled.

The policy builds on existing customer-friendly measures such as a free date change for tickets booked from 2 April and a 24-hour ‘hold my fare’ option offered without charge. These additions are positioned as part of Emirates’ broader duty of care under its ‘fly better’ brand promise, aiming to provide flexibility and reassurance at every stage of travel.

Market rollout

The Comprehensive Travel Cover is being rolled out across a wide range of international markets, reflecting Emirates’ strategy to expand access to enhanced travel protection for global customers. Included markets are Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.
