Emirates brings Oktoberfest flavours to flights and German lounges with Bavarian feast

Travellers can enjoy themed snacks, desserts and drinks at 30,000 feet

FRANKFURT/DUBAI – Emirates is bringing the flavours of Oktoberfest to the skies and its lounges in Germany, with a seasonal menu inspired by Bavarian cuisine.

From September 19 to October 4, passengers travelling between Dubai and Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Hamburg can enjoy special dishes across all cabin classes.

The celebrations will also extend to Emirates Lounges at the four German airports, with themed snacks, desserts and beverages adding to the seasonal offering.

Bavarian menus

During the campaign, selected Oktoberfest dishes will be served for lunch and dinner on three daily flights between Dubai and Frankfurt, along with two daily services connecting Dubai with Munich, Düsseldorf and Hamburg.

First Class passengers can choose from dishes including beef consommé with marrow dumplings, duck liver terrine and sauerbraten prepared with Wagyu steak and braised beef cheeks. Another option features spiced roast chicken with potato pavé, Obatzter and caramelised apples.

Desserts include Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote and cinnamon crème anglaise, as well as apple strudel.

Business Class customers will find braised beef short ribs or beef cheeks on the seasonal menu, accompanied by options such as baked cheesecake and apple strudel.

Premium Economy passengers can enjoy braised beef cheeks with Bavarian accompaniments, while Economy Class features chicken bratwurst in puff pastry with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, alongside chicken with paprika cream sauce. Black Forest cake is also available on selected flights.

First Class passengers flying from Dubai to Germany will receive a decorated Oktoberfest gingerbread heart before landing. On the return journey, First Class customers will be offered an Oktoberfest movie snack featuring smoked turkey, beef salami, Obatzter, Emmental cheese, cream cheese, egg, radishes, cornichons and mini pretzels.

A380 treats

The Oktoberfest offering continues in the A380 Onboard Lounge, where passengers can find buttered pretzels and a selection of rolls and sandwiches.

The savoury choices include cream cheese and chive, roast beef and gherkin, chicken Leberkäse and Emmental cheese. Sweet options include Oktoberfest gingerbread, Black Forest cake, plum cake, German cheesecake and doughnuts.

German lounges

The seasonal programme will also run at Emirates Lounges in Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Hamburg from September 19 to October 4.

In Hamburg, passengers can sample freshly baked pretzels, smoked trout fillet served on Munich-style potato salad with beetroot and horseradish cream, and Backhendl with wild mushroom cream sauce and pretzel dumplings. Dessert includes vegan Bavarian cream with caramelised apple, while Oktoberfest beer will also be available. Seasonal decorations will feature throughout the lounge and reception area.

The lounges in Munich, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf will serve braised beef cheeks with onions and potato dumplings, hand-rolled potato noodles with sauerkraut, Bavarian skewers and fruit coated in white and dark chocolate.
