‘Family is Where We Belong’: Dubai rolls out new Ramadan charity initiatives
Thousands of meals and nol cards distributed to beneficiaries
DUBAI – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an extensive programme of community initiatives for the holy month of Ramadan under the theme “Family is Where We Belong.”
The campaign aims to reinforce social cohesion and encourage generosity while delivering practical support to vulnerable segments of society. A wide range of beneficiaries, including underprivileged families, orphans, workers and public transport users, are set to benefit from the initiatives being rolled out across the emirate.
The authority said the programme reflects its broader commitment to enhancing community wellbeing and spreading happiness during Ramadan. Activities will take place throughout the holy month, targeting multiple groups connected to Dubai’s transport ecosystem.
Key efforts
RTA is implementing the Ramadan programme in partnership with several government and private sector entities, including Keolis MHI, DAMAC Properties, Noon, Beit Al Khair Society, Al Ahliah Charity Schools and Dar Al Hay Gents Tailoring.
Officials said the collaboration forms part of integrated efforts to strengthen community cooperation and expand the reach of humanitarian work during Ramadan.

RTA is also mobilising employees and volunteers across the emirate to support the initiatives. The authority noted that this approach promotes volunteerism, embeds social responsibility and advances humanitarian engagement in line with the UAE’s values of compassion and cooperation.
Ramadan drive
Among the flagship efforts is the “Meals on Wheels” initiative, which will see the preparation and distribution of 8,000 meals during Ramadan. Meal distribution will take place at RTA headquarters and at Quranic Park, with employees and community volunteers participating in the effort to support workers across the city.
RTA is also organising the “Iftar Meal Distribution at Metro Stations” campaign in cooperation with Keolis MHI, DAMAC Properties and Noon. The initiative will provide iftar meals accompanied by awareness messages to heavy vehicle drivers, bus and taxi drivers, and workers travelling through the public transport network.
In conjunction with Zayed Humanitarian Day, the authority is rolling out the “Ramadan Rations” initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged families. The programme includes the distribution of 500 nol cards to eligible beneficiaries. According to RTA, part of the allocation will be delivered directly to families at their homes, while the remaining cards will be distributed through a cooperative society in coordination with Beit Al Khair Society.
The authority is also contributing to the broader “Season of Wulfa” festivities by displaying the “Ramadan in Dubai” logo on Variable Message Signs across the road network. The programme further features a decorated abra parade designed to enhance the festive atmosphere in various parts of the emirate.
Appreciation campaign
As part of its Ramadan engagement, RTA is launching the “Thank You, RTA Heroes” campaign on its official social media platforms. The initiative invites the public to share messages of appreciation for frontline employees and customer service teams, including bus drivers, delivery riders, metro staff and marine transport personnel.
The authority said the most impactful submissions will be selected, with winners receiving nol cards and shopping vouchers as recognition.
Separately, RTA is continuing its community outreach through the “Eid Joy” initiative. Implemented in collaboration with Dar Al Hay Gents Tailoring and Al Ahliah Charity Schools, the programme will provide Eid Al Fitr essentials and Eidiya cash gifts to students, helping them prepare for the upcoming celebrations.
The authority noted that the Ramadan programme aligns with its ongoing commitment to strengthening social solidarity, promoting generosity and enhancing quality of life across Dubai.
