The Plaza: DMCC unveils 21,000 sqm open-air venue in Uptown Dubai
New venue anchors district masterplan and future expansion
DUBAI – DMCC has announced the opening of The Plaza at Uptown Dubai, marking a significant milestone in the continued expansion of the district.
The 21,000 square metre open-air space is designed to serve as a central anchor within the Uptown Dubai masterplan. With the capacity to host up to 4,000 guests, the venue is positioned to accommodate large-scale corporate gatherings, conferences, concerts and public events.
The launch comes as Uptown Dubai advances into its next phase of growth, with further commercial towers under development and additional Grade A office and retail space in the pipeline. The Plaza is intended to enhance the district’s ability to convene global industries, reinforcing its role as a hub for trade, finance and technology.
The Plaza
Strategically located at the heart of the district, The Plaza physically links Uptown Tower with the surrounding commercial and residential components of Uptown Dubai. The design strengthens connectivity across the community, creating a unified environment for businesses, residents and visitors.
The venue has been equipped with advanced staging, lighting and digital display infrastructure to support year-round programming. Its layout allows for efficient event turnover, enabling the hosting of multiple large-scale events throughout the year. With the capacity to accommodate up to 4,000 attendees, The Plaza introduces a new scale of event capability within the district.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, described the opening as a defining milestone in the evolution of Uptown Dubai. He said the addition of The Plaza transforms the district into a destination that brings together business, culture and shared experiences, while reinforcing Dubai’s position as one of the world’s leading cities to live, work and visit.
Expansion underway
The opening of The Plaza aligns with broader development taking place across Uptown Dubai. Two commercial towers, rising 23 and 17 storeys respectively, are currently under construction. Together, they will add a combined 62,000 square metres of Grade A commercial and retail space to the district.
Once completed in full, Uptown Dubai will deliver a total gross floor area of 538,000 square metres. Of this, 232,000 square metres will be dedicated to Grade A commercial office space, further strengthening the district’s capacity to attract multinational corporations and global enterprises.
The integration of office, retail and open-air event facilities is designed to create a balanced, mixed-use environment that supports business operations while also fostering community engagement. The Plaza plays a central role in this vision by providing a flexible space capable of hosting both major international events and community-focused activities.
Integrated vision
As development progresses, Uptown Dubai continues to evolve as an integrated district aimed at supporting long-term business performance and attracting global talent.
The addition of The Plaza enhances the district’s physical and functional cohesion, linking key components of the masterplan and expanding its event-hosting capabilities.
