Dubai South, Majid Al Futtaim announce Dh62 billion mega community near airport hub
New development spans 22 million square feet with lifestyle offerings
DUBAI – Dubai’s rapidly expanding southern corridor is set for another major transformation after Dubai South signed a partnership agreement with Majid Al Futtaim to develop a Dh62 billion mixed-use master community.
The large-scale project will add a new urban destination within Dubai South and is designed to cater to the area’s rising residential and commercial demand. The development signals another significant addition to one of the emirate’s fastest-growing zones, closely linked to aviation, logistics and future urban expansion.
The agreement was signed at Dubai South headquarters in the presence of Khalifa Alzaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, and Fadel Abdulbaqi Al Ali, Chairman of Majid Al Futtaim Holding. Nabil Alkindi, Group CEO of Dubai South, and Ahmed Galal Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Holding, formalised the deal.
Project scale
The planned development will extend across 22 million square feet and feature a broad mix of residential, retail and lifestyle offerings. The community is intended to support both residents of Dubai South and surrounding districts as the area continues attracting new businesses and population growth.
At the centre of the project will be a large shopping mall expected to emerge as a major retail, leisure and entertainment destination. The addition is expected to strengthen Dubai South’s appeal as a live-work destination while introducing a new lifestyle focal point for visitors and residents.
The strategic location places the project near Al Maktoum International Airport, which is expected to become the world’s largest airport upon completion. Its position also offers access to key highways and transport corridors, connecting it to Dubai’s major economic and logistics centres.
Growth vision
Speaking on the announcement, Alkindi said Dubai continues demonstrating the strength and resilience of its economy through strategic developments that reinforce its standing as a global destination for business, investment and quality living.
He added that the agreement with Majid Al Futtaim marks an important milestone in Dubai South’s ongoing expansion plans and aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and wider leadership goals aimed at creating future-ready integrated communities that support sustainable urban and economic growth.
Ahmed Galal Ismail said the agreement reflects Majid Al Futtaim’s long-term confidence in Dubai’s trajectory and underlines its commitment to creating destinations that deliver lasting economic value.
He noted that Dubai South is increasingly becoming the next significant chapter in Dubai’s development journey, adding that the company is positioning its next mixed-use community within a location that continues gaining strategic and economic importance across the emirate.
