Abu Dhabi real estate boost as Aldar, Mubadala acquire The Link in Dh654mn deal
Fully leased asset strengthens sustainable urban development portfolio
ABU DHABI – Aldar and Mubadala Investment Company have completed the acquisition of The Link at Masdar City through their joint venture established in 2024.
Valued at Dh654 million, the deal marks a significant expansion of their income-generating real estate portfolio within one of the region’s most advanced sustainable developments. The transaction reflects sustained institutional interest in Abu Dhabi’s property market, underpinned by strong economic fundamentals and long-term growth prospects.
The acquisition adds a high-performing asset to the partners’ portfolio, aligning with broader efforts to scale investments in innovation-led urban environments. Market activity continues to show resilience, driven by demand for premium commercial assets and future-focused infrastructure.
The Link
The Link spans approximately 32,000 square metres of net leasable area across five buildings and is fully leased. Tenants include Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar) and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, both key players in the emirate’s innovation ecosystem. The development features Grade A LEED Platinum office space, a net-zero energy headquarters, a multi-use hall, and residential accommodation.
Dr Bakheet Al Katheeri, Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, said the transaction underscores confidence in Abu Dhabi’s long-term growth trajectory. He noted that the partnership with Aldar continues to focus on scaling high-quality assets within Masdar City, a centre for clean energy, artificial intelligence and advanced research. The investment also reflects Mubadala’s approach to sustainable infrastructure that supports financial performance while contributing to the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions.
Strategic growth
Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Aldar, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s investment portfolio and reinforces its partnership with Mubadala. He highlighted that the fully leased asset enhances resilience while increasing exposure to a globally recognised sustainable urban development.
Ahmed Baghoum, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar City, described The Link as a key addition to the destination’s growth. He said the development supports economic expansion while advancing industries centred on sustainability and innovation.
