Etihad Airways announces Quiet Cabins from May 1 for calmer flights
New concept focuses on reducing cabin noise and improving passenger rest
ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways has announced the rollout of its Quiet Cabins concept, set to begin from May 1, as part of efforts to enhance onboard comfort and create a more relaxing travel environment.
The announcement, shared via the airline’s official social media channels, highlights a renewed focus on reducing cabin noise and promoting a sense of calm in the skies.
The initiative is expected to feature across select aircraft, particularly those equipped with next-generation technology.
Quiet Cabins
The Quiet Cabins concept centres on minimising ambient noise inside the aircraft, allowing passengers to “tune out the world” and enjoy a more peaceful journey. While not a separate class or bookable feature, it reflects a combination of advanced engineering and refined cabin design aimed at delivering a noticeably quieter inflight experience.

The rollout aligns with Etihad’s broader strategy to prioritise passenger wellbeing, particularly on long-haul routes where rest and comfort are key considerations. Reduced engine noise, improved insulation and optimised cabin layouts are among the elements contributing to this quieter environment.
Modern fleet
The initiative will be most prominent on modern aircraft such as the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, both known for their advanced noise-reduction technology. These aircraft are designed with composite materials and aerodynamic efficiency that significantly lower cabin sound levels compared to older models.
Passengers travelling in premium cabins may experience an added layer of quiet due to private suite designs and enhanced materials that absorb sound. However, the quieter environment extends across all classes, including Economy, offering a more comfortable journey for a wider range of travellers.

By reducing background noise, Quiet Cabins aim to support better sleep, lower fatigue and a more relaxed inflight atmosphere.
