Dubai Astronomy is hosting final stargazing event in Al Quaa, Abu Dhabi
DUBAI: Sky-watchers across the UAE are in for a celestial farewell as Dubai Astronomy prepares to host its final stargazing event of the season.
On Saturday, 26 July 2025, astronomy enthusiasts will gather beneath the vast skies of Al Quaa Desert in Abu Dhabi – a destination renowned for its pitch-dark horizons and crystal-clear views of the galaxy.
This event offers a rare opportunity to witness the Milky Way stretching across the night sky, free from the interference of city lights. Whether you're a seasoned astrophotographer or simply curious about the cosmos, this night is designed for everyone.
Where and when?
The event will take place at Al Quaa Desert, Abu Dhabi, one of the darkest and most ideal spots in the UAE for astronomy.
The programme runs from 10 PM to 2 AM and includes guided activities for all levels of interest.
Schedule:
- 10:15 PM: Welcome and Orientation
- 10:30 PM: Sky Mapping – Learn the stories behind the stars and constellations
- 11:00 PM: Astrophotography Basics – Tips for photographing the night sky
- 11:30 PM: Hands-On Photo Session – Capture the Milky Way with expert guidance
- 2:00 AM: Event concludes
Tickets for the 26 July event are available via Dubai Astronomy, starting from Dh150. Early registration is advised due to limited capacity.
What’s next for stargazers?
While this marks the end of the stargazing season in the UAE, there’s more to look forward to. A total solar eclipse – the longest of the century – is set to occur in August 2027.
Although only partially visible from the Emirates, the event is already generating excitement in the astronomy community.
