Dubai businessman donates seven properties worth Dh110 million for good causes
Awqaf Dubai says donation is among largest real estate endowments this year
DUBAI – Emirati businessman and former diplomat Hamad bin Ahmed bin Salem Al Hajri has made one of Dubai’s largest charitable endowments of the year, donating seven buildings worth Dh110 million to the Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai).
The real estate assets, spread across prominent districts, will serve as a perpetual endowment to support humanitarian and community development projects across the emirate.
The endowed buildings are located in key areas including Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, Al Hebiah Fourth, and Al Markad, all officially registered with property numbers. The diversity of the properties underscores the sustainability of their long-term returns, aligning with Awqaf Dubai’s focus on impactful, enduring philanthropy.
Sadaqah Jariyah
In the official endowment document, Al Hajri described the initiative as a Sadaqah Jariyah – a continuous charity – for himself and his late parents. He emphasised that all proceeds will be directed to charitable and humanitarian causes under Awqaf Dubai’s supervision, ensuring a legacy that benefits future generations.
Spirit of generosity
Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, praised the gesture as a reflection of the UAE’s strong culture of giving. He said the initiative would help fund humanitarian, educational, healthcare, and service projects benefiting the wider community. Al Mutawa noted that such contributions reinforce Dubai’s position as a global centre for sustainable charitable work.
Awqaf Dubai currently manages Dh11.1 billion in endowment assets across 1,043 Waqfs from 578 donors, representing a growing culture of social responsibility and compassion among citizens and residents alike.
