DUBAI – Saudi Arabia has unveiled the first two production models from its national automotive brand Ceer, introducing the Exobot electric sedan and SUV as the company prepares to enter the premium EV market.

The vehicles were revealed this week by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Ceer’s manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City. They mark the beginning of a planned seven-model portfolio that Ceer aims to launch over the next five years.

The Exobot models combine locally developed design and engineering with high-performance electric powertrains and technology supplied through partnerships with major global automotive companies. Ceer was launched by the Public Investment Fund in 2022 in partnership with Foxconn, with the wider project forming part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 industrial diversification strategy.

Exobot SUV

The Exobot SUV is powered by a 112 kWh battery and has a claimed range of up to 560 km on the NEDC cycle. Its all-wheel-drive system uses two electric motors producing a combined 850 hp, or 625 kW, allowing the large SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds.

An 800-volt electrical architecture enables charging from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes. The SUV also features steer-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and multiple driving modes.

Inside, a curved 48-inch Digital Horizon display stretches across the dashboard, accompanied by 3D navigation, a camera-based mirror system and Ceer’s voice assistant. The SUV measures 5,016 mm long, 2,101 mm wide and 1,693 mm high, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase.

Exobot sedan

The Exobot sedan takes the performance figures further into a large luxury EV package. It has a claimed NEDC range of up to 670 km and produces 850 hp, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.6 seconds.

The sedan measures 5,260 mm in length, 2,102 mm in width and 1,428 mm in height, sharing the SUV’s 3,200 mm wheelbase. Its design incorporates upward-opening doors and a pillar-less cabin, while references to Saudi culture are built into several exterior details.

The front lighting incorporates 32 elements, a reference to 1932, the year of Saudi Arabia’s unification. The Exobot name is derived from the English transliteration of “seer”, associated with moving forward, while the vehicles’ bilingual Arabic and English interface reflects their intended regional identity.

Global technology

Ceer has worked with companies including BMW, Hyundai Transys and Rimac as it develops its vehicles and local supply chain. The Exobot sedan’s electric drive technology includes components from Rimac, while Hyundai is involved in motor technology and Foxconn has contributed to the vehicle platform, software and electrical architecture.

The manufacturing complex is being developed with annual production capacity of up to 170,000 vehicles. Ceer expects the project to create around 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, while targeting 45% local content by 2034 and 80% Saudi participation in its direct workforce.

Ceer has not announced prices or confirmed detailed ordering information for the Exobot models. The company plans to expand its range with five additional vehicles through 2030, including compact and midsize models and vehicles using different propulsion systems.

The automaker expects its operations to contribute about $8 billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by 2034, while its wider expansion is intended to support a domestic automotive supply chain and future exports across the Middle East and North Africa.
