WATCH | Dubai’s busiest metro station gets massive 65% capacity boost
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Emaar Properties, has announced a major expansion of the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station to meet rising demand.
The station’s area will increase from 6,700 to 8,500 square metres, boosting hourly capacity from 7,250 to 12,320 passengers – a 65% surge.
Designed to serve up to 220,000 commuters daily, the revamped station will feature expanded concourses and platforms, more escalators and lifts, and separate entry and exit gates for smoother passenger flow.
With ridership soaring past 10.5 million in 2024, the project supports Dubai’s future mobility needs through 2040.
