Dubai announces free parking for Hijri New Year holiday
Free parking applies to all zones and multi-level terminals this Friday
DUBAI: In celebration of the Hijri New Year, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that all public parking zones and multi-level parking terminals will be free of charge on Friday, June 27.
This applies to all paid parking areas across the city, providing residents and visitors with a full day of complimentary access.
Normal parking tariffs will resume on Saturday, June 28, according to an official statement released by the RTA on Wednesday. The decision is part of a broader public service update in observance of the Islamic New Year holiday.
Transport timings adjusted
Public transport services will operate under revised schedules for the day. Dubai Metro will run continuously from 5am on Friday, June 27, until 1am on Saturday, June 28. Meanwhile, the Dubai Tram will be in service from 6am on Friday through to 1am the following day.
The RTA has encouraged commuters to use the S’hail app or the official RTA application to confirm the exact timings for buses and marine transport, which may also follow holiday-specific schedules.
Service centres closed
All RTA Customer Happiness Centres, along with service provider centres, will be closed for the public holiday on Friday. Vehicle technical testing services will also pause for the day, with operations scheduled to resume on Saturday, June 28.
However, digital services remain accessible. The Smart Customer Happiness Centres – located in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, and the RTA Head Office – will continue to function round-the-clock. These centres offer a full suite of services and can be accessed 24/7 for convenience throughout the holiday.
