UAE air defences intercept 9 UAVs amid ongoing Iranian aggression
Ministry reiterates readiness to safeguard national security
ABU DHABI – The UAE’s air defence systems on Wednesday engaged nine UAVs launched from Iran, authorities confirmed.
The development comes amid continued escalation, with defence forces maintaining heightened vigilance across the country.
Officials reiterated that response systems remain fully operational and capable of countering aerial threats.
Since the onset of the Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have engaged a total of 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,815 UAVs. The figures reflect the scale and persistence of the attacks, with defence systems consistently intercepting incoming threats.
Casualties
The attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of three members of the armed forces while performing national duty. Additionally, six fatalities were reported among civilians of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Palestinian nationalities. A total of 166 people sustained injuries, ranging from minor to severe.
Those injured include nationals from the UAE and several countries, including Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.
The Ministry of Defence affirmed it remains fully prepared to address any threats, reiterating its commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty, security and stability while safeguarding national interests.
