DUBAI – New data from Priority Pass reveals a noticeable surge in airport lounge usage across the UAE as travellers prepare for the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday period.

The trend reflects a growing preference for calmer, more comfortable airport environments as passenger traffic increases across major hubs. With extended public holidays and school breaks expected to drive heavy outbound and inbound travel, lounges are becoming an increasingly important part of the journey experience.

The findings show that April saw a significant uplift in lounge visits across key UAE airports. In Abu Dhabi, visits to the Pearl Lounge increased by 53%, marking one of the strongest monthly rises in the region. In Dubai, both the Ahlan Lounge and Marhaba Lounge recorded steady gains, rising by 15% and 7% respectively, signalling sustained momentum ahead of peak holiday travel.

Eid demand

The uplift comes as the UAE enters one of its busiest annual travel phases, with Eid Al Adha traditionally triggering a sharp spike in both regional and international journeys.

Airlines and airports typically report higher passenger volumes during this period, and the latest data suggests travellers are increasingly turning to lounges to manage congestion and improve their airport experience.

Rather than waiting in crowded departure halls, passengers are opting for quieter spaces that offer food, seating comfort, and connectivity before boarding.

Travel shift

The growing reliance on lounges reflects a broader behavioural shift among UAE travellers, who are placing greater emphasis on convenience and experience rather than simply transit efficiency. This is particularly evident during peak travel seasons when airport infrastructure comes under pressure. Lounges are now being used not only for relaxation but also for remote working, dining, and family comfort, particularly among frequent flyers and business travellers.

According to Priyanka Lakhani, Senior Vice President at Collinson International, travellers in the UAE are increasingly making intentional choices about how they move through airports. She noted that comfort and ease are now central to the journey, with lounges evolving from occasional luxury spaces into essential components of modern travel. The shift also aligns with broader changes in the GCC aviation market, where blended business-leisure trips and short-haul regional travel continue to grow.

With Priority Pass offering access to more than 1,800 airport lounges and travel experiences worldwide, the network continues to expand its footprint as demand for seamless airport journeys rises. Across UAE terminals, the steady climb in lounge usage points to a sustained change in expectations, particularly as Eid travel peaks and passenger flows intensify across major international routes.
