New summer route: Etihad Airways to launch direct Abu Dhabi flights to Palma de Mallorca
Seasonal service offers three weekly flights until mid-September 2026
ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways is expanding its summer network with the launch of direct flights to Palma de Mallorca, the capital of Spain’s Balearic Islands.
The new route, starting on 12 June 2026, marks the airline’s 29th new destination and creates the only direct air link between Asia and Palma, opening a convenient gateway to Ibiza and the wider Balearics.
The seasonal service will operate three times a week until mid-September 2026, offering travellers seamless access to one of Europe’s most popular island escapes. Palma de Mallorca combines golden beaches and turquoise waters with a rich mix of culture, history and Mediterranean lifestyle.
Travel experience
Flights on the route will be operated by Etihad’s new Airbus A321LR, a single-aisle aircraft designed to deliver a widebody experience.
First Class passengers will enjoy private suites with closing doors and fine dining, while Business Class offers lie-flat beds in an exclusive 1-1 herringbone layout. Economy travellers will benefit from spacious seating, generous legroom and personal entertainment screens.
Summer destination
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said Mallorca was an ideal addition to the airline’s summer schedule, describing it as a destination with marinas, nightlife, coves and historic towns that appeal to a wide variety of travellers.
Palma de Mallorca, a hub of the Balearic Islands, offers striking Gothic architecture such as La Seu Cathedral, a historic old town, luxury resorts and vibrant Spanish cuisine.
