Global Village Dubai announces new fireworks and drone show for Hag Al Laila

DUBAI – The Global Village Dubai has announced a series of special events to mark Hag Al Laila, adding fireworks, a themed drone show and family-focused cultural activities to its entertainment line-up.

The popular outdoor destination is staging the celebration over four days, creating an Emirati-inspired atmosphere across the park. The programme aligns with the traditional occasion linked to mid-Sha’ban, widely associated with children, sweets and community spirit.

Festivities run from Saturday, January 31 to Tuesday, February 3, with multiple elements designed for visitors of all ages. The celebrations build on the park’s seasonal entertainment calendar while highlighting local heritage traditions.

Fireworks and drone show

A major fireworks show is scheduled for January 31 at 9pm, lighting up the sky above the park and visible from multiple areas. The following evening, February 1 at 9.05pm, a special Hag Al Laila-themed drone show will take place, adding synchronised aerial visuals to the programme.

These displays form the centrepiece of the nighttime schedule, complementing Global Village’s established reputation for large-scale outdoor shows.

Hag Al Laila

Throughout the four-day period, the park is introducing heritage-inspired elements, including traditional decorations and a majlis-style setting where visitors can experience aspects of Emirati culture. A Heritage Village area will feature classic clothing, accessories and items associated with the sweet-collecting tradition observed during Hag Al Laila.

The environment is designed to reflect the spirit of generosity and togetherness linked to the occasion, bringing cultural context into the entertainment setting.

Family activities

Children are a key focus of the programme. Free sweets will be distributed to young visitors during the celebration, echoing the custom of giving treats to children on Hag Al Laila night. Creative workshops, crafts and traditional games are also part of the schedule, allowing youngsters to engage directly with cultural themes.

Young guests can additionally interact with Global Village characters during meet-and-greet sessions. The destination itself features more than 3,500 shopping outlets, over 250 dining options, and more than 200 rides, games and attractions, alongside thousands of live shows throughout the season. Season 30 includes 30 pavilions representing more than 90 cultures, positioning the Hag Al Laila events within a broader multicultural setting while spotlighting Emirati heritage.
