DUBAI – Emirates Islamic has launched a Shari’ah-compliant digital investment solution in gold and silver, becoming the first Islamic bank in the UAE to introduce such a service.

Fully integrated into its EI+ Mobile Banking App, the platform enables customers to invest in certified physical precious metals through a secure, technology-driven interface.

The move reflects the bank’s broader strategy to expand digital wealth management offerings while maintaining strict adherence to Islamic finance principles. Customers can access the service via the app’s dedicated ‘Wealth’ tab, allowing them to manage investments directly from their smartphones.

Digital access

The new offering allows users to buy and sell physical gold and silver bars seamlessly, providing a straightforward way to diversify portfolios. With a low minimum investment requirement, the platform is designed to make precious metals more accessible to a wider customer base.

Gold and silver have traditionally been viewed as reliable stores of value, particularly during periods of inflation and market volatility. By digitising access to these assets, Emirates Islamic is positioning itself at the intersection of ethical finance and financial technology.

Investors retain full control over their holdings, with the flexibility to sell at any time regardless of market conditions. This real-time access is intended to enhance decision-making and provide greater transparency in managing wealth.

Secure standards

The bank has emphasised quality and security in its offering. Gold bars available through the platform meet London Bullion Market Association and Dubai Good Delivery standards, sourced from established brands such as Emirates NBD, PAMP and Valcambi.

Silver bars comply with UAE Good Delivery standards and are also sourced from recognised providers. All purchased metals are stored in high-security vaults, ensuring protection and authenticity of holdings.

In addition to digital trading, customers can choose from multiple redemption options. These include partial or full cash redemption, as well as the ability to request physical delivery of the metals, adding a tangible dimension to the investment.

Strategic push

Senior executives at Emirates Islamic described the launch as a milestone in the bank’s digital transformation journey. The initiative aligns with its objective to deliver sophisticated, Shari’ah-compliant financial solutions tailored to evolving customer needs.

The bank highlighted that the platform not only enhances convenience but also strengthens its position in the competitive Islamic banking sector. By combining mobile technology with traditional asset classes, the solution aims to deepen customer engagement and broaden investment opportunities.
