How Dubai RTA is transforming driver training with new digital platform
AI-powered system cuts waiting times and reduce operational costs
DUBAI – In line with its vision to be the World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced ‘Tadreeb’, a digital platform designed to fully digitise the training and qualification of new drivers.
The initiative is part of RTA’s wider digital transformation drive, aiming to create a seamless and efficient training journey while ensuring the highest levels of safety.
The platform connects all driving institutes across Dubai, automates assessments, and consolidates trainee-related data in one integrated system. By streamlining training processes, RTA is ensuring that new drivers receive structured and consistent preparation in line with global best practices.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, highlighted that the platform helps identify the needs of each trainee using data analysis. This ensures quality training, licensing a pool of skilled and professional drivers, while strengthening governance processes and improving safety standards.
What is Tadreeb?
‘Tadreeb’ uses advanced artificial intelligence to qualify drivers across more than 27 training institute locations. It is supported by over 3,400 instructors and a fleet of 3,000 training vehicles. Each vehicle is geo-tracked and connected to the main system, allowing for precise monitoring of training sessions.
The platform serves approximately 250,000 trainees annually, delivering more than six million training hours per year. Since its launch, the system has operated as a safe, fully paperless solution, creating a seamless experience for trainees.
How does it improve training?
‘Tadreeb’ is the first unified training platform worldwide to be recognised by the International Commission for Driver Testing (CIECA). The initiative also earned the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award this year, cementing Dubai’s leadership in road safety and digital mobility solutions.
The platform has achieved measurable improvements in training quality, transparency and assessment accuracy. It also contributes to reducing fatalities among new drivers. Smart dashboards monitor training indicators and automate performance evaluations, while integration with issuing authorities has halved waiting times for permits and reduced operating costs.
The Smart Licensing Centre further enhances remote monitoring of training sessions, with trainers recording a compliance rate of 97% to prescribed training stages. These efficiencies reflect RTA’s efforts to combine safety, quality and sustainability in one unified system.

Looking ahead, RTA plans to expand the platform’s capabilities by using artificial intelligence to personalise customer journeys, enhance training oversight and strengthen governance processes. Data-driven solutions will remain at the core of its future development, ensuring sustainability for the next generation of drivers.
