RTA expands driver training zones across Dubai, opens new investment opportunities
Wider access for residents in fast-developing neighbourhoods across the emirate
DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved an expansion of the areas eligible for licensing new institutes and branches to provide driver training services across Dubai.
The initiative is aimed at improving service accessibility and bringing training facilities closer to rapidly growing residential communities. It also forms part of a broader strategy to align mobility infrastructure with Dubai’s urban expansion and population growth.
The authority said the move will further enhance convenience for residents seeking driving licences while supporting long-term transport planning.
New zones
The newly included locations are Wadi Al Safa, Jebel Ali, Mushrif, Al Maktoum City and Madinat Hind. RTA said these areas were selected to serve emerging residential and commercial districts where demand for driving services continues to grow.
The expansion is expected to reduce travel time for learners and distribute training capacity more evenly across the city. It also strengthens the accessibility of licensing services within developing neighbourhoods.
Investor scope
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency at RTA, said the expansion reflects the authority’s commitment to bringing driver training services closer to residents in new communities, reducing the need for long-distance travel. He added that RTA will support investors through a flexible application process in line with approved legislation and policies.
Accredited institutes and prospective investors are invited to apply for new branches under the updated framework. The initiative is expected to strengthen private sector participation in driver training services, improve driver competency and enhance road safety awareness across the community.
