UAE intercepts 6 missiles, 9 drones launched from Iran
Hundreds of projectiles intercepted since start of attacks
DUBAI – UAE air defence systems successfully engaged six ballistic missiles and nine unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran today, according to official statements.
The latest interceptions come amid continued hostilities that have seen repeated aerial threats targeting the country’s airspace. Authorities confirmed that defence systems responded swiftly, preventing further damage and maintaining operational readiness.
Since the onset of what officials described as ongoing attacks, the UAE’s air defence network has intercepted a total of 378 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,835 UAVs. These figures underline the scale and persistence of the threats, with multiple waves of projectiles launched over time.
Casualties reported
The attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of two members of the UAE Armed Forces while performing their national duty. In addition, a Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces was also killed. Authorities confirmed eight further fatalities involving individuals of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.
A total of 171 people sustained injuries, ranging from minor to severe. The injured include a wide range of nationalities, reflecting the UAE’s diverse population. Among them are citizens and residents from the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.
Defence response
The Ministry of Defence reiterated that it remains fully prepared to address any evolving threats. Officials emphasised that defence forces are operating under a comprehensive strategy designed to safeguard national security and ensure stability across the country.
The ministry further stated that it will continue to respond decisively to any actions that undermine the UAE’s sovereignty, with a focus on protecting its people, infrastructure and strategic capabilities as the situation develops.
