Top Pakistani envoy honours Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed in Dubai
Film stars receive recognition while promoting their upcoming rom-com ‘Love Guru’
DUBAI: In a heartfelt tribute to the country’s cinema, , Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi on Tuesday honoured celebrated film stars Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed at a special ceremony in Dubai.
The event coincided with the duo’s ongoing promotional campaign for their forthcoming romantic comedy Love Guru, slated for global release on 6 June 2025.
The ceremony, attended by Consul General Hussain Muhammad and other senior members of the Pakistani diplomatic mission, recognised the artists’ outstanding contributions to the country’s creative industry.
Held in the presence of a large number of Pakistani community members in the UAE, the event highlighted the rising influence of Pakistan’s cultural exports on the global stage.
Mahira, Humayun honoured in Dubai
Ambassador Tirmizi presented commemorative shields to Mahira and Humayun, acknowledging their enduring impact on the entertainment landscape over the years.
“Pakistan’s arts and cinema reflect our nation’s diversity, talent and values,” said the Ambassador during his speech. “The creative industry serves as a vital form of soft power, shaping how the world sees us. These stars are not just actors – they are cultural ambassadors.”
Both Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed thanked the diplomatic mission and the audience for the warm recognition. Speaking at the ceremony, Mahira expressed her appreciation: “We are deeply honoured to be celebrated in this way. It’s moments like these that remind us of the responsibility and love that come with our work.”
Humayun echoed her sentiments, adding, “Dubai always makes us feel welcome. To be acknowledged by our own people while abroad is a special kind of joy.”

The celebration follows a high-profile press conference at Dubai Mall’s City Fountain Views Cinema, where the stars unveiled key details about Love Guru. Directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Vasay Chaudhary, the film reunites Mahira and Humayun on screen for the first time since Bin Roye in 2015. With a star-studded ensemble and an ambitious international release plan, Love Guru is poised to be a milestone in contemporary Pakistani cinema.
