ADCB sets Guinness World Record with largest biodegradable UAE flag
Sustainable celebrations take centre stage this 54th Union Day
ABU DHABI – In a striking symbol of innovation and patriotism, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) has achieved a Guinness World Record for creating the largest biodegradable UAE flag.
Measuring 26.849 square metres, the flag was crafted using eco-friendly materials and brought to life by Emirati artist Safeya AlHebsi.
Displayed at ADCB’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the flag stands as a tribute to both sustainable progress and national identity during the country’s 54th Union Day celebrations.
Guinness glory
The monumental flag not only entered the Guinness World Records but also underscored ADCB’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
AlHebsi’s design used biodegradable components, reflecting the UAE’s growing focus on sustainability. The record-breaking installation served as a vivid visual celebration of heritage, combining artistic expression with ecological awareness.

Founded in 1985, ADCB emerged as a public shareholding company formed after the merger of Emirates Commercial Bank, Federal Commercial Bank, and Khaleej Commercial Bank, originally established in 1975.
