Umrah permit suspension to last until June 10, Saudi authorities confirm
DUBAI: Saudi Arabia will suspend the issuance of Umrah permits for citizens, residents, and GCC nationals starting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that the temporary suspension, effective from 1 Dhul-Qa'dah 1446 AH, will last until June 10, 2025 (14 Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH), as the Kingdom prepares for the upcoming Hajj season.
The move is aimed at streamlining Hajj 1446 operations and ensuring the safety of the millions of pilgrims expected to gather in Makkah.
Entry to Makkah
Authorities confirmed that from April 23, access to Makkah requires an official permit issued via the Absher or Muqeem platforms. Only Hajj workers, residents of Makkah, and holders of valid Hajj permits are permitted entry.
Beginning April 29, no one without a Hajj visa will be allowed to enter or stay in Makkah. Violators will face legal action, according to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Hajj 2025
This year’s Hajj pilgrimage is expected to commence around June 6, 2025, subject to the moon sighting. Saudi Arabia has introduced six authorised Hajj packages for pilgrims from over 50 countries, offering options tailored to different budgets and needs.
The packages include Standard, Standard Shifting, Premium, Premium Shifting, Luxury, and Luxury Shifting. Accommodation durations range from 10 to 14 days, spanning 3-star to 5-star hotels, with services designed to enhance access to key religious sites.
While Standard options offer essential services and basic lodging, Luxury packages ensure a five-star experience prioritising comfort and proximity to sacred rituals.
