Saudi Arabia declares 4-day break for Eid Al Adha 2025
Arafat Day falls on next Thursday, followed by Eid Al Adha on Friday
DUBAI: Saudi Arabia has announced a four-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors on the occasion of Eid Al Adha 2025.
The break will commence on Thursday, June 5 – observed as Arafat Day – and continue until Sunday, June 8, with regular work resuming on Monday, June 9. The announcement follows the sighting of the crescent moon in the Kingdom, which officially marked the beginning of the Islamic month Dhu Al Hijjah on Wednesday, May 28.
The first day of Eid Al Adha will fall on Friday, June 6, coinciding with the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. Arafat Day, which precedes Eid and holds immense religious significance, will be observed on June 5 – the ninth day of the month.
On Sunday, May 25, the Supreme Court had requested citizens to observe the sky for the crescent on the evening of Tuesday, May 27 – corresponding to the 29th of Dhu al-Qadah. The successful moon sighting set the Islamic calendar in motion for the pilgrimage season and the festival.
Tadawul holiday schedule
In line with the public celebration, the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) also confirmed its Eid holiday schedule, announcing a six-day trading pause. Market activity will halt from Thursday, June 5 until Tuesday, June 10.
Trading will resume on Wednesday, June 11, extending the break for financial professionals beyond the standard holiday period.
