UAE weather update: NCM issues warnings as heavy rain hits Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Dubai
Yellow and amber warnings issued amid slippery roads and reduced visibility
DUBAI – Heavy rain affected several parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday after partly cloudy conditions earlier in the day, prompting weather alerts from authorities.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued yellow and amber alerts, warning residents of unstable weather and urging caution, particularly in northern and eastern regions.

The alerts remained in effect until 6pm, covering both coastal and inland areas.
Rainfall recorded
According to NCM updates, moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded across key locations in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and parts of Dubai.

In Fujairah, showers were reported in Masafi, Aasmah and Murbad, while Dubai’s Al Lisaili area experienced notable precipitation during the afternoon.
Ras Al Khaimah also saw rainfall concentrated around the Masafi area, with desert tracks and internal roads affected as water accumulated.

Videos circulating online showed vehicles moving slowly through flooded stretches, with desert paths turning into flowing streams as rain continued.
Hail and hazards
Heavy showers accompanied by small hail were observed along the Khor Fakkan Road and on the Murbad-Masafi road stretch, leading to localised slippery conditions. Motorists travelling through mountain and intercity routes were advised to remain alert due to sudden changes in visibility and road grip.

Sharjah was also hit by a downpour on Monday, with footage showing roads partially submerged as persistent rain fell across the emirate.

While most rainfall across the country remained light to moderate, northern areas experienced heavier spells as forecast by the NCM.
Weather advisory
The NCM stated that cloud formation and rainfall would continue over some eastern and northern areas, driven by a low pressure system affecting the country from December 25 to 29. Humid conditions were expected to persist until the evening, with light to moderate winds blowing at times.

Authorities reiterated safety advisories, urging residents to avoid wadis and mountain roads during rainfall, secure outdoor items, and drive cautiously under unstable weather conditions. The NCM advised the public to monitor official updates throughout the day as conditions evolved.
