New 5,000 sqm family park adds fresh green escape in Sharjah
Al Khan Park completed in under a month with fast-tracked construction and planning work
SHARJAH – The Sharjah City Municipality has opened Al Khan Park in the Al Khan area following directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at expanding and maintaining parks across the emirate.
The opening coincided with Eid Al Adha, offering residents a new green space for leisure during the holiday period.
Completed in record time, the project adds to Sharjah’s growing network of community parks developed in response to rising public demand.
Al Khan Park
Work on the park began on April 30, with the Projects Management and Facilities Maintenance Department overseeing the engineering design and execution. Construction progressed at a swift pace as teams carried out landscaping, groundwork and infrastructure installation simultaneously to meet an accelerated timeline.
From breaking ground to completion and public opening, the entire project was delivered in less than a month, reflecting the municipality’s fast-track approach to developing neighbourhood recreational facilities. The rapid execution also highlights coordinated planning and efficient mobilisation of resources to meet community needs ahead of the festive period.
Park features
The park spans 5,000 square metres and features a football pitch, a dedicated children’s play area, seating zones, internal walking pathways and lighting systems for evening use.
Around 3,000 square metres of the space has been covered with grass, creating wide open areas for relaxation and outdoor activity.
The layout has been designed to balance recreation and comfort, with landscaped sections enhancing the overall environment. Supporting infrastructure, including irrigation networks and utility systems, has also been integrated to ensure durability and long-term usability.
