UAE petrol, diesel prices for May 2025 announced
Small rise in petrol, but diesel gets cheaper this month
DUBAI: Motorists in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will pay slightly more for petrol but benefit from a diesel price cut as fuel prices for May 2025 were announced on Wednesday.
The new prices, set by the UAE fuel price committee, will take effect from May 1.
This month’s update follows a pattern of fluctuations seen earlier this year, with increases in February followed by reductions in March and April.
Petrol prices up slightly
According to the latest revision, Super 98 petrol will be priced at Dh2.58 per litre, a minor increase from Dh2.57 in April. Special 95 petrol will rise to Dh2.47 per litre, up from Dh2.46. E-Plus 91, often used in lower-compression engines, will now cost Dh2.39 per litre, compared to Dh2.38 last month.
Diesel becomes cheaper
In contrast to the petrol hike, diesel has seen a notable drop. From Dh2.63 per litre in April, it will now cost Dh2.52 – a reduction of 11 fils, offering some relief to logistics and heavy transport sectors.
Prices aligned globally
Since the deregulation of fuel prices in 2015, the UAE adjusts rates monthly in accordance with international oil price movements. The pricing system aims to reflect real-time global trends, with revisions typically announced at the end of each month and implemented from the first day of the next.
