UAE intercepts five missiles, 35 drones as Iran attacks continue
Defence ministry reiterates readiness to counter any security risks
ABU DHABI – The UAE air defences on Wednesday intercepted five ballistic missiles and 35 UAVs launched from Iran, marking the latest in a series of aerial threats targeting the country.
Authorities confirmed that defence systems responded swiftly, preventing potential damage and maintaining operational readiness amid continued regional tensions.
The developments come as part of ongoing Iranian attacks that have seen repeated engagements by UAE forces in recent days. Since the start of the blatant Iranian attacks, UAE air defences have engaged 438 ballistic missiles, 19 cruise missiles and 2,012 UAVs, according to official figures. The scale of interceptions highlights the sustained nature of the threat and the extensive deployment of defence systems across the country.

Casualties
The attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of two members of the armed forces while performing their national duty. A Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces was also killed. In addition, nine fatalities were reported among individuals of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.
A total of 190 people have been injured, with cases ranging from minor to moderate and severe. The injured include nationals from a wide range of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.
The Ministry of Defence affirmed that it remains fully prepared to deal with any threats, stressing that it will firmly confront attempts to undermine the country’s security. Authorities reiterated that measures are in place to ensure the protection of sovereignty, stability and national capabilities as operations continue.
