UAE weather: Fog alerts, humid mornings and rain chances until Friday
NCM warns of poor visibility and changing skies this week
DUBAI – The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a fresh weather advisory as the country begins the workweek under largely humid skies with a probability of mist and fog, particularly in the early hours of Monday.
Drivers and commuters are being warned that horizontal visibility may deteriorate significantly, especially between 00:30 and 10:00, as fog forms over some coastal and internal regions.
Today’s weather started with heightened humidity, potentially creating light mist or fog in coastal spots before conditions transition to a fair to partly cloudy day across much of the UAE. Low cloud cover is expected over coastal and eastern areas at times, while winds begin southeastward and gradually shift northwestward at light to moderate speeds of 10-20 km/h, occasionally gusting up to 30 km/h. Sea conditions will generally remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Fog and low visibility advisory
The NCM’s advisory underscores the likelihood of fog or mist formation in the early mornings through midweek, which could pose challenges for road users as visibility dips. Conditions are typical of this time of year in the UAE’s winter climate when cooler nights and lingering humidity often usher in morning fog layers.
Forecast through mid-week
Tuesday’s forecast indicates a continuation of humid conditions at dawn with the potential for light mist or fog over both internal and coastal areas. Daytime skies should remain fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds lingering in eastern zones and winds again shifting from southeasterly to northeasterly at similar speeds to Monday. Sea conditions are expected to stay slight throughout the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
By Wednesday morning, humidity will still be pronounced, and light mist could again form over some western interior regions. Conditions will slowly evolve into a fair to partly cloudy day with greater cloud presence in northern and eastern areas and a chance of light rainfall in spots. Winds are forecast to freshen somewhat, reaching up to 35 km/h at times, and seas may become slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf.
Later in the week
The weather outlook for Thursday shows continued morning humidity over western areas, while northern and eastern parts of the UAE may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with an increased likelihood of rain. Temperatures are expected to dip slightly along some coastal western zones, with northwesterly to northeasterly winds blowing at 10-20 km/h and occasionally reaching 35 km/h. Seas could turn moderate and rougher at times in both major bodies of water.
On Friday, early morning mist or light fog is again forecast, especially westward, followed by fair to partly cloudy conditions and low clouds over eastern areas. Winds will remain light to moderate, while the sea state is anticipated to stay slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
