From 43°C to 47°C: UAE braces for hotter days before weekend cooldown
Inland areas face scorching conditions while visibility may drop
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is heading into a hotter spell this week, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 47°C in some inland areas while dusty conditions, strong winds and rough seas affect parts of the country.
The forecast comes as summer conditions continue to intensify across the Emirates. While residents in major cities can expect generally fair weather, visibility may be reduced at times later in the week due to blowing dust and sand.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), inland temperatures are forecast to range between 43°C and 47°C during the coming days. Coastal and island areas are expected to record between 36°C and 41°C, while mountainous regions will see temperatures between 32°C and 37°C.
Temperature outlook
Tuesday is expected to remain generally fair, with light to moderate south-westerly to north-westerly winds becoming fresh at times. Wind speeds may reach up to 40km/h, particularly in exposed areas.

City temperatures are also set to rise steadily. Dubai is forecast to record highs of 39°C on Tuesday and Wednesday before reaching 40°C on Thursday. Abu Dhabi is expected to be even hotter, with temperatures climbing from 40°C on Tuesday to 43°C by Thursday.
The NCM said the country is currently being influenced by a weak surface low-pressure system extending from the east and a surface high-pressure system from the west, supported by an upper-air high-pressure system.
Dust alert
Weather conditions are expected to become increasingly dusty from Thursday onwards. Stronger winds are forecast to generate blowing dust and sand, especially across western areas, leading to reduced horizontal visibility.
Wind speeds could reach 45km/h on Thursday and strengthen further to 50km/h on Friday. Residents travelling in open areas may experience periods of reduced visibility as dust is lifted into the atmosphere.
Sea conditions
Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate. The Arabian Gulf will shift from moderate seas on Thursday to rough and very rough conditions at times on Friday, before easing slightly on Saturday. In contrast, the Oman Sea is forecast to remain slight throughout the period.
Despite the intense heat, temperatures are expected to ease slightly on Friday, particularly along coastal areas, with a more noticeable drop forecast for Saturday as the week draws to a close.
The latest forecast comes as the UAE enters the early weeks of summer, a season that has previously produced some of the highest temperatures ever recorded in the country, including the national record of 52.1°C set in July 2002.
