Dubai to auction 300 premium number plates online for private, classic vehicles
Two- to five-digit combinations across 17 plate codes
DUBAI – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the launch of its 82nd online auction, offering 300 premium number plates for private vehicles, classic vehicles and motorcycles.
The auction will feature a wide range of highly sought-after combinations, including 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-digit numbers, catering to collectors and motorists seeking distinctive registrations. The move continues RTA’s strategy of providing transparent and accessible digital services while meeting sustained demand for exclusive vehicle plates in the emirate.
The premium plates on offer will span multiple categories and include codes H, I, K, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. These codes cover both private and classic vehicle classifications, ensuring broad participation from owners of modern cars, vintage models and motorcycles. The auction is expected to attract strong interest, reflecting Dubai’s long-standing enthusiasm for unique and personalised vehicle number plates.
Auction details
Registration for the online auction will open on Monday, 2 February 2026, allowing interested participants to complete formalities ahead of bidding. The auction itself is scheduled to begin on Monday, 9 February, and will run for a period of seven days only. All plate numbers sold during the auction will be subject to a 5 per cent Value Added Tax, in line with federal regulations.
Participation in the auction is limited to customers who hold an active traffic file in the emirate of Dubai. This requirement applies across all plate categories, including private vehicles, classic vehicles and motorcycles, ensuring that bidders meet the necessary eligibility criteria before taking part.
Participation process
RTA has outlined clear procedures for those wishing to participate in the auction. Bidders must submit a security cheque payable to RTA with a value of Dh5,000, alongside a non-refundable registration fee of Dh120. The registration fee can be paid in person at Customer Happiness Centres located in Umm Ramool, Al Barsha and Deira, or online using a credit card through RTA’s official website.
The authority has emphasised that the registration process must be completed before bidding opens, as only approved participants will be allowed to place bids during the auction period. These measures are designed to streamline participation while maintaining fairness and transparency throughout the process.
Payment rules
Successful bidders will be required to settle the total payable amount within 10 working days from the close of the auction. Payments can be made through authorised service provider centres, with cash payments accepted for amounts of up to Dh50,000. For amounts exceeding Dh50,000, payment must be made via manager’s cheque or credit card.
In addition, payments may also be completed at RTA Customer Happiness Centres or directly through RTA’s website, offering flexibility and convenience for winning bidders. The authority has reiterated that timely settlement is essential to complete the ownership transfer of the purchased plate numbers.
