UAE braces for more rain through Friday as temperatures near 50°C
Convective clouds expected over eastern and southern regions every afternoon
DUBAI – Rain has begun falling over parts of Ras Al Khaimah as the UAE enters a fresh spell of unsettled weather expected to continue until Friday.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast daily development of convective clouds over eastern and southern parts of the country, bringing rainfall of varying intensity, particularly during the afternoon. Residents are also being warned to expect strong winds, blowing dust and soaring temperatures that could approach 50°C in some inland areas.
The changing weather pattern is being driven by several atmospheric systems working together. According to the NCM, the northward movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), combined with an upper-level trough extending from the east and a surface low-pressure system from the south, is drawing moisture from the Sea of Oman while higher temperatures and the eastern mountains encourage cloud formation.
Rain pattern
Tuesday's showers over Ras Al Khaimah marked the beginning of what forecasters expect to be several days of afternoon cloud build-up across eastern, internal and southern parts of the UAE.

The NCM said convective clouds will continue forming through Friday, producing rainfall of varying intensity across affected regions. The weather system is also expected to generate fresh to strong winds, with occasional very strong gusts capable of lifting dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility in exposed areas.
The UAE's Ministry of Interior has urged motorists to remain cautious on the roads during periods of rain and reduced visibility, reminding residents to follow official safety advice as weather conditions evolve.
Hot conditions
Despite the increased chance of rainfall, temperatures will remain firmly in summer territory.
Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 42°C and 47°C across coastal and island areas, while internal regions could reach as high as 50°C. Mountain areas will be comparatively cooler, with highs ranging between 33°C and 39°C.
Humidity will vary significantly across the country, dropping to around 15 percent inland while climbing to as much as 85 percent along coastal areas.
Winds will generally blow from the southeast before gradually shifting northeasterly. Sustained wind speeds of 10 to 25km/h are forecast across much of the country, while stronger gusts between 35km/h and 45km/h are expected in many locations. In areas affected by convective clouds, gusts could reach up to 70km/h.
Weather ahead
The unsettled weather is expected to persist throughout the working week.
From Wednesday until Friday, skies are forecast to remain partly cloudy to fair, with convective clouds developing once again during the afternoon over eastern and southern regions, bringing renewed chances of showers.

Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, becoming fresh at times and continuing to raise dust in exposed areas. Meanwhile, sea conditions are forecast to stay slight to moderate in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman throughout the period.

Residents are also encouraged to monitor advisories issued by the relevant authorities, particularly if travelling through eastern, mountainous or southern parts of the UAE where rainfall activity is expected to be most active.
