DUBAI – Italian artistry is making a strong mark on the UAE’s luxury landscape, with the country ranking third among the Emirates’ top jewellery exporters.

From January to July 2025, Italy’s jewellery exports to the UAE reached €836.9 million, marking a 13.72% increase over the previous year. With a 7.9% market share, Italy’s performance reflects the growing appreciation in the region for exquisite craftsmanship, design innovation and superior quality.

The nation’s success will take the spotlight at Jewellery, Gem & Technology in Dubai (JGTD) 2025, scheduled from 11 to 13 November at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City. Organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Pavilion will host 30 leading jewellers, designers and technology innovators. Visitors will experience state-of-the-art manufacturing, sustainable solutions and contemporary design from some of Italy’s most prestigious brands.

"Italy’s participation in JGTD Dubai underscores the strength of our bilateral trade relations and our shared commitment to craftsmanship, innovation and distinction. Italian companies bring a heritage of design and manufacturing that complements the UAE’s role as a global hub for luxury and creativity," said Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE.

The UAE stands as one of the world’s key destinations for jewellery trade, supported by tax-free shopping, robust consumer spending, and a thriving tourism industry. According to the World Gold Council, the country ranks fifth globally in gold jewellery demand, with nearly 40 tonnes consumed in the second quarter of 2024. Dubai’s strategic position and market dynamism make it an essential gateway for Italian luxury brands expanding into the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Italian innovation on display

“The Italian jewellery and gemstone sector is recognised worldwide for its quality, creativity and technical mastery,” said Valerio Soldani, Trade Commissioner, Italian Trade Agency in the UAE. “The UAE remains a key destination for our exports, which represent Italy’s leading trade category in this market. JGTD offers an excellent opportunity to highlight our expertise, foster partnerships and reinforce Italy’s reputation as a trusted, forward-looking trade partner in one of the world’s most dynamic luxury markets.”

The JGTD showcase forms part of the OpportunItaly initiative, a business acceleration programme jointly developed by the ITA and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The initiative connects global buyers, distributors and entrepreneurs with Italian enterprises through digital matchmaking and curated industry content, further strengthening cross-border collaboration.

Global demand for fine jewellery is projected to exceed USD 340 billion by 2030, fuelled by emerging markets, investment-oriented consumers and rapid technological advances. The Middle East continues to play a major role in this growth, particularly in gold and diamond jewellery purchases.

Italy’s jewellery sector employs over 30,000 artisans across leading manufacturing hubs such as Vicenza, Arezzo and Valenza. These centres of excellence are driving transformation through digital innovation, sustainable sourcing and traceability systems, ensuring Italian jewellery retains its benchmark status for quality and authenticity.
