Al Romaizan unveils Dh4.6m gown at Expo Centre Sharjah
SHARJAH – The Dubai Dress by Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery has entered the Guinness World Records as the heaviest dress ever created from pure gold.
Weighing 10.0812 kilograms and valued at Dh4.6 million, the gown was unveiled at Expo Sharjah during the 56th edition of the Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show.
The Guinness World Records committee presented the official certificate to Al Romaizan in a special ceremony at the exhibition, recognising an achievement that places Emirati craftsmanship firmly on the global stage. The unveiling highlighted Expo Sharjah’s growing role as a hub where international prestige meets regional artistry.
Dubai Dress
Entirely crafted from 21-carat gold, the Dubai Dress is composed of four main elements: a crown weighing 398 grams, a necklace at 8,810.60 grams, earrings of 134.1 grams, and a heyar piece at 738.5 grams. The gown is further embellished with coloured gemstones, detailed engravings and intricate decorations, making it not only a record-breaking creation but also a wearable work of art.
The design reflects Emirati heritage reimagined with a modern sensibility. Al Romaizan’s craftsmen combined traditional motifs with contemporary artistry to create a piece that captures both the UAE’s rich cultural identity and its pursuit of global distinction in the luxury sector.
Guinness recognition
Speaking at the ceremony, Mohsen Al Dhaibani, Regional Deputy Manager of Al Romaizan, described the achievement as a symbol of the UAE’s ambition. He said the Guinness recognition demonstrates how Emirati craftsmanship can combine authenticity with innovation, while reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as a global destination for gold and jewellery.
The Dubai Dress stood out as one of the major highlights of the jewellery show, drawing attention from international visitors and industry experts alike.
Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show
The Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show, hosted at Expo Centre Sharjah and supported by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has brought together more than 500 exhibitors and 1,800 jewellery professionals from around the world. Spanning 30,000 square metres, the five-day event features exclusive collections of watches, diamonds, gold and gemstones.
The 2025 edition has attracted participants from over 20 countries, including Italy, India, Türkiye, the United States, Japan, China and the United Kingdom. New entrants from Australia, Myanmar and Pakistan joined leading international brands in showcasing their collections.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI and Expo Centre Sharjah, noted that the exhibition bolsters the UAE’s global position in the jewellery trade, while providing a platform for Emirati designers to showcase innovation. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, described the event as an opportunity for international brands to launch new collections and explore investment avenues.
