DUBAI – Arada has awarded a contract worth Dh145 million to construct a major sports complex within its Dh35 billion Sharjah megaproject, Aljada.

The announcement marks another milestone in the developer’s ongoing expansion of world-class community facilities aimed at fostering a healthy and active lifestyle.

What will it feature?

Spread across a 400,000 square foot landscaped park, the upcoming sports complex will offer a range of facilities including a full-size football pitch, multiple five-a-side football grounds, and dedicated courts for basketball, volleyball, squash, badminton, and padel tennis.

Fitness enthusiasts can also look forward to cycling and jogging tracks winding through green spaces, as well as adventure play zones designed for children.

The complex will also include a water play area and two F&B outlets, among them the Reformatory Lab – the acclaimed Australian coffee brand recently introduced to the UAE. Visitors will benefit from two underground parking levels, designed for convenience and to accommodate increased footfall from Aljada’s growing population.

Dubai-based Civic Builders Trading & Contracting LLC has been appointed as the main contractor, with construction already in progress. Handover is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: “The delivery of this world-class sports complex is in line with our goal to enable an active, healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors to Aljada. It’s also another addition to the world-class amenities we continue to build across the community, which consistently enhance quality of life and increase long-term value for our homeowners.”

Aljada’s main sports complex will join a diverse portfolio of existing attractions, including the futuristic business park, Madar Mall retail and entertainment hub, and a performing arts centre designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Spanning 24 million square feet with 25,000 homes, Aljada has already welcomed around 20,000 residents. To date, 7,500 homes have been delivered, with another 2,000 under construction. Completed components include two phases of the Madar family entertainment district, the Nest student housing complex, and the SABIS International School-Aljada.
