CIFF commits $100 million to support Dubai’s Edge of Life campaign fighting child malnutrition
Initiative seeks global support to combat childhood hunger and malnutrition
DUBAI – The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) intends to contribute $100 million (Dh367 million) alongside the Edge of Life campaign and work with partners to reach five million children with life-saving nutrition support.
The campaign was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to mobilise significant global resources to combat childhood hunger and malnutrition.
CIFF’s contribution highlights the humanitarian scope of the Edge of Life campaign and reinforces its mission to support five million children with essential nutrition while aligning with international initiatives working to address global malnutrition.
Global partnership
The partnership forms part of a broader international effort in which CIFF is working with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and other partners to expand sustainable programmes aimed at protecting children in underserved communities from hunger and malnutrition.
According to global statistics, one in four children under the age of five worldwide suffers from malnutrition, underlining the scale of the challenge facing international humanitarian organisations.
Through coordinated investment and collaboration, the initiative seeks to strengthen long-term nutrition programmes capable of delivering life-saving support to vulnerable communities.
Edge of Life
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI, said the Edge of Life campaign reflects the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to launch landmark humanitarian initiatives that accelerate global efforts to eradicate hunger and malnutrition.
He noted that CIFF’s partnership with the Ramadan campaign demonstrates the powerful impact of collaboration among international humanitarian organisations.
Al Gergawi said such partnerships can help empower vulnerable communities and ensure sustainable access to nutrition, ultimately saving millions of children from hunger and the devastating consequences of malnutrition through strategic planning and vital funding.
Donation channels
Sir Christopher Hohn, Founder and Chairman of CIFF, emphasised the urgency of tackling childhood malnutrition and expanding international cooperation to address the crisis.
“Preventing children from dying of malnutrition should not be an objective – it should be a reality. Yet today, the world is falling short and so change is imperative,” he said.
Sir Hohn added that CIFF believes in a future where every child can grow up safe and healthy. He said collaboration with the Edge of Life campaign will help strengthen efforts to protect five million children from the long-term effects of early malnutrition.
“We believe in a world where all children can be safe, healthy and flourish, which means no child or their potential to grow should be lost to malnutrition,” he said. “By co-investing alongside MBRGI and building partnerships, we can protect five million children from the devastating, lifelong aftermath of early malnutrition.”

Contributions can also be made through bank transfers in UAE dirhams to the campaign account at Emirates Islamic Bank (IBAN: AE940340003708472909222).
Donors may contribute via SMS by sending the word “LIFE” to du and e& numbers: 1034 to donate Dh10, 1035 for Dh50, 1036 for Dh100 and 1038 for Dh500.
