DUBAI travellers can now benefit from a cutting-edge digital platform designed to make journeys faster and smoother.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the Data Drive – Clear Guide system, which uses artificial intelligence to monitor and analyse both historical and live traffic patterns. Drawing on five years of past traffic data alongside real-time updates, it offers instant insights into road speeds, congestion points, and travel trends.

By providing accurate and immediate traffic assessments, the platform enables authorities to identify smooth-flow periods, recurring jams, and unusual slowdowns within minutes – a process that previously took weeks. This marks a leap forward in the emirate’s drive to become a world leader in smart city innovation.

What does it do?

The Data Drive – Clear Guide delivers live notifications about traffic movement across Dubai’s streets. It comes with advanced analytical tools for evaluating performance on specific days, weeks, or seasons, comparing the results with past data to reveal patterns and performance shifts. The technology can spot sudden drops in speed, benchmark road efficiency, and detect bottlenecks before they escalate.

Using data from leading international traffic specialists, the platform processes vast volumes of information through intelligent algorithms, giving a precise, up-to-the-minute view of road conditions. These insights help RTA teams respond faster to changing traffic situations, whether caused by peak-hour rushes or unexpected disruptions.

How is it different?

Previously, traffic monitoring relied on manual reports from consultants, field teams, and compiled data sets – methods that often led to delays in analysis and slower decision-making. The new platform condenses this into a real-time process, allowing the same evaluations to be completed within minutes.

Beyond daily traffic, the system supports major events, diversions, and roadworks by assessing performance before and after changes. Automated reports help decision-makers evaluate the effectiveness of projects and adapt strategies quickly to reduce delays.

The platform’s interactive map shows live traffic conditions, allowing users to zoom in on specific streets or areas. Analysis can be based on indicators such as average speed, traffic density, and travel time, helping pinpoint the best route for a journey.

For travellers, this means better-informed routes, less time stuck in jams, and a smoother driving experience as Dubai’s roads adapt in real time to changing conditions.
