DUBAI – flydubai has inaugurated its first direct service to Vilnius, becoming the first UAE carrier to operate nonstop flights between Dubai and the Lithuanian capital.

The launch adds a significant new connection between the two countries, enhances flydubai’s growing Central and Eastern European footprint and opens a fresh gateway for tourism, business and trade.

The carrier now serves more than 135 destinations across 58 countries, further strengthening its international reach.

New route

The service operates three times weekly, linking Dubai’s global aviation hub with Vilnius International Airport and offering travellers increased choice and convenience.

The route is expected to support rising demand for leisure and business travel while offering Lithuanian passengers seamless onward access to major global destinations.

Noora Juma, the non-resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Lithuania, said the connection represents “a new link between two cities and two countries”, noting its potential to unlock “endless possibilities” between the two nations.

Lithuania’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Juras Taminskas, highlighted that the start of flydubai operations makes it the fourth new airline to begin services in the country over the past two years. He said the development reflects Vilnius Airport’s standing as a secure and reliable partner, adding that the route marks “a new stage” in Lithuania’s aviation sector. Around 40,000 passengers are expected to travel on the service in its first year.

The direct connection offers Lithuanian travellers easier access to Dubai’s attractions and further links to destinations such as the Maldives, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Thailand. It is also poised to support trade flows and cultural tourism, building on the UAE’s established status as a key transport hub.

Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said the service underscores the airline’s commitment to improving access to underserved markets. He noted that the route is expected to stimulate tourism and commercial activity between the two countries.

Lithuanian Airports Chief Executive Officer, Simonas Bartkus, described the new direct service as an important strengthening of the country’s aviation map. He said the link to one of the Middle East’s leading hubs offers access to more than 200 destinations within the combined Emirates and flydubai network. He also highlighted the airline’s investment in developing inbound tourism to the Baltic States, which he called crucial for year-round route sustainability.

Passengers travelling on the new flights will have access to flydubai’s updated cabin products. Business Class features lie-flat seats, an internationally inspired dining selection and a personalised service environment. Economy Class passengers can enjoy complimentary inflight entertainment and a selection of meals, supporting the airline’s broader enhancements to the travel experience.
