Indian, Pakistani residents bag Dh510,000 in UAE Big Ticket draw
Contest offers Dh15 million top reward in September draw
DUBAI: Luck smiled on four Indian and Pakistani expatriates in the UAE and Kuwait, who collectively won Dh510,000 in Big Ticket’s August Big Win Contest.
The prizes ranged from Dh100,000 to Dh150,000, bringing moments of sheer joy to the winners.
The biggest share went to Aslam Shaikh, a 42-year-old mobile shop owner from Andhra Pradesh, India, who took home Dh150,000. Living in Kuwait since 2007, Shaikh learned about Big Ticket through friends only six months ago and has been purchasing tickets as part of a group of seven.
“I am truly overjoyed; words cannot describe how I feel,” he said, adding that he will split the prize equally among the group, reinvest in his shop, and continue participating.
The second-highest prize of Dh140,000 went to Indian national Firoz Khan, who purchased his winning ticket online.
Another Indian winner, 40-year-old aluminium fabrication worker Smiresh Athikkunnu Parambil Kunchan from Kerala, claimed Dh120,000.
A resident of Al Ain for 17 years, he resumed buying tickets six months ago with a group of 16 friends. “When I first received the call, I was overjoyed, and even now I still feel the same excitement,” he said. His share will be used to support his family back home.
Pakistani mechanical engineer Mohammad Sikandar Hayat secured Dh100,000 after 20 years of purchasing Big Ticket entries.
The 55-year-old Abu Dhabi resident often bought tickets whenever he dropped his family at the airport. “This is truly an incredible feeling, and I am overjoyed,” he said, adding that he will divide the prize among his four daughters.
What’s next for Big Ticket?
In August, Big Ticket is offering several major rewards, including a Dh15 million top prize to be announced on 3 September during the live draw. On the same night, six other participants will each win Dh100,000.
The month also features The Big Win Contest, where customers who buy two or more cash tickets in one purchase between 1 and 25 August can be chosen to attend the live draw and win guaranteed prizes between Dh50,000 and Dh150,000. The names of four participants for this contest will be revealed on 1 September.
