Burj Khalifa lights up for India’s Independence Day
Dubai’s Burj Khalifa lit up in the colours of the Indian flag on August 15 to mark India’s 79th Independence Day, with crowds gathering to witness the spectacle.
Celebrations began early at the Consulate General of India in Dubai, where Consul General Satish Sivan hoisted the flag before hundreds of expatriates.
In his speech, he praised the 4.36 million-strong Indian community in the UAE, highlighted India’s economic progress, and underscored the strength of India-UAE ties.
The event also featured cultural performances reflecting India’s heritage.
Other UAE landmarks joined the tribute by illuminating in the tricolour, with festivities and flag-hoisting ceremonies held across the Emirates, creating a vibrant day of patriotism for the Indian diaspora.
