Abu Dhabi opens King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Park with cooled walkway
New landmark green space opens to mark Bahrain’s 54th National Day celebrations
ABU DHABI has added a major new green destination with the opening of King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Park in the Al Mushrif area.
Launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the park opened to coincide with Bahrain’s 54th National Day. The project highlights the close ties between the UAE and Bahrain while expanding the capital’s network of public recreational spaces.
Developed by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, the park spans a forest-style landscape featuring more than 1,100 mature Ghaf trees. It has been designed as a multi-use destination catering to families, fitness enthusiasts and nature lovers, with a focus on comfort and accessibility throughout the year.
Cooling feature
One of the park’s standout attractions is its air-conditioned walkway, stretching approximately 700 metres. The cooled pathway allows visitors to walk comfortably even during warmer months, complementing elevated tracks, scenic trails, a cycle path and a dedicated pump track integrated within the natural surroundings.
For everyone
The park includes wide open lawns, yoga and meditation decks, and vibrant children’s play areas. Dedicated fitness zones have been designed for seniors and People of Determination, ensuring inclusive access across the site. Water fountains are distributed throughout the park to enhance visitor convenience.
Food options
At the centre of the park is a newly constructed café with a cooled outdoor terrace and an elevated viewpoint overlooking the tree canopy. A selection of food trucks offers additional dining choices, allowing visitors to relax and spend extended time within the space.
