Al Rowaiyah Street improves travel for 80,000 residents
DUBAI – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated Al Rowaiyah Street, a new 3.5-kilometre corridor that directly links Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
The development aims to significantly enhance mobility in Dubai’s fast-growing districts, cutting travel times and improving overall traffic flow.

This upgrade forms part of RTA’s wider network improvements to accommodate urban expansion, rising population, and increasing transport demand.
Seamless connectivity
The corridor provides smooth entry and exit points to both arterial roads, serving key residential and educational areas including Dubai Silicon Oasis, Nadd Hessa, Dubai International Academic City, and Warsan 4.
By offering direct links between these hubs, Al Rowaiyah Street strengthens connectivity for commuters and residents alike.
Traffic safety
The project includes the conversion of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority roundabout into a signalised intersection, enhancing safety and streamlining traffic movement. In addition, two kilometres of dedicated cycling tracks have been introduced, promoting soft mobility and encouraging healthier lifestyle choices for residents.
Capacity boost
RTA reports that the new link increases traffic capacity on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street by up to 40 percent. Travel time from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road has been reduced from 10 minutes to just four – a 60 percent decrease. By 2030, the enhanced corridor is expected to benefit more than 80,000 residents, supporting smoother and more efficient journeys across Dubai.
Al Rowaiyah Street is among several key infrastructure projects in the emirate, reinforcing the city’s transport network while connecting residential, commercial, and service areas more effectively.
