Abu Dhabi unveils Dh4.21 billion housing support package ahead of Eid Al Fitr
Loans, grants and exemptions included in latest citizen support initiative
ABU DHABI – The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has approved a major new housing benefits package worth Dh4.21 billion for Emirati citizens across the emirate, in a move announced ahead of Eid Al Fitr.
The package was approved by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi. It will benefit 2,652 citizens and forms part of the leadership’s continued focus on family wellbeing, social stability and access to suitable housing.
The new package covers a broad mix of support, including housing loans, ready-built housing grants, residential land grants and exemptions from housing loan repayments. The announcement marks the first housing package of 2026 and comes at a time of heightened significance for families preparing for Eid.
Package details
The largest share of the package is made up of housing loans totalling Dh2.1 billion, set to benefit 1,415 citizens. Ready-built housing grants account for Dh1.82 billion and will support 914 citizens. Residential land grants worth Dh144 million have been allocated to 185 citizens.
In addition, exemptions from housing loan repayments amounting to Dh142 million will benefit 138 people, including senior citizens, limited-income retirees and heirs of deceased citizens. The scale and structure of the package underline a targeted approach aimed at responding to different housing needs across the community.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, said the package reflected the leadership’s continued commitment to ensuring the highest standards of living for citizens. He said the directives highlighted a sustained focus on meeting housing aspirations, improving quality of life and strengthening stability and wellbeing for Emirati families.
Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, said the latest package embodied the leadership’s dedication to dignified living standards and family stability, while also supporting broader development goals. He described suitable housing as a cornerstone of a cohesive and prosperous society.
Wider impact
Al Muhairi added that the authority continues to develop its programmes and services to make access to suitable housing easier for citizens, in line with the leadership’s vision for a prosperous future. The latest disbursement also adds to the scale of Abu Dhabi’s long-running housing support system.
Since the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, total housing benefits delivered to citizens in Abu Dhabi have now surpassed 132,000, with a combined value of more than Dh181 billion. The latest package further expands that record, reinforcing housing support as one of the emirate’s most significant social development pillars.
