DUBAI: After closing its gates on Sunday, Global Village Dubai is already stirring anticipation for its landmark 30th season, set to return in October 2025.

While official opening dates have yet to be confirmed, what’s clear is that the upcoming season is being billed as the biggest in its three-decade history.

This year marks 30 years since Global Village began as a modest cluster of kiosks by Dubai Creek in 1996. From those humble beginnings, it has grown into a sprawling multicultural park that attracted a record-breaking 10 million visitors during Season 29 alone.

Global Village Season 30

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Global Village is promising a memorable season filled with surprises. Though details remain under wraps, the organisers have confirmed that a massive revamp is underway. The venue, located in Dubailand, is set to receive a major visual and structural upgrade ahead of the new season.

Adding to the buzz, Global Village has already opened its vendor registration portal. Entrepreneurs, SMEs, entertainers, and large companies are encouraged to apply and showcase their products or concepts. Categories for participation include country pavilions, street food stalls, kiosks, speciality restaurants, coffee shops, retail outlets, entertainment attractions and promotional activations.

Business bonanza

Season 30 is positioned as a golden opportunity for business growth. Pavilion partners, in particular, have witnessed high returns on investment, with many returning year after year for over a decade. The first category of submissions – pavilions – has already gone live, with others expected soon.

Global Village provides essential support for vendors, including staff visa assistance, customs clearance, on-site storage, registration help, and access to electronic payment systems. This infrastructure has enabled countless small businesses to thrive in an environment that regularly draws millions of visitors.

Not just limited to retail and dining, the destination is also open to submissions for entertainment services and guest operations. In previous seasons, Carnaval alone featured over 200 rides and games, while the venue hosted over 400 performers across 40,000 shows.

From Creekside to carnival

The journey of Global Village has been nothing short of extraordinary. After its initial run in 1996 with only a handful of kiosks near Dubai Municipality, it expanded rapidly. By 1997, it featured 18 pavilions. That number climbed to 46 by 2005. The venue shifted locations several times – from Creekside to Oud Metha, then Dubai Festival City – before settling permanently in Dubailand.

The event used to run alongside the Dubai Shopping Festival but eventually outgrew the alignment, becoming an independent winter event and extending its operating months. Season 29 opened on 16th October 2024 and ran for seven months, marking one of its longest stretches ever.

The final night of Season 29 was a spectacle of fireworks, music and high spirits. Families enjoyed Dh50 all-access passes to rides, while children under a certain age entered free, creating long queues and Instagram-worthy moments throughout the park.

Cultural showcase

At its core, Global Village remains a powerful cultural celebration. The latest edition featured 30 pavilions representing over 90 nationalities, more than 3,500 retail outlets, and 250 dining options – from Indian chaat to Lebanese grills and Emirati desserts. With the announcement of a special 30th season, expectations are running high for even more global representation and immersive experiences.

With summer now setting in, fans of Global Village won’t have to wait too long. October 2025 is just around the corner, and with vendor sign-ups already in motion, the groundwork is being laid for a season like no other.

Stay tuned – Season 30 is on its way, and it promises to be bigger, bolder, and more unforgettable than ever.
