Qatar Airways expands Africa network with new routes and more weekly flights
Expanded schedules strengthen links through Doha hub
DUBAI – Qatar Airways is widening its footprint across Africa with a series of route resumptions and flight increases set to begin this summer, strengthening links between the continent and its Doha hub.
The expansion includes returning services, additional frequencies and a new destination launch.
The latest move is aimed at improving travel access while responding to growing passenger and trade demand across key markets.
Qatar Airways is expanding its African network, with flight resumptions and frequency increases launching from 16 June 2026 onwards: Seychelles, Kigali, Marrakesh, Alexandria, Cairo, Cape Town, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka-Harare, and Maputo-Durban.

From June 16, the airline will resume four weekly services to Seychelles (SEZ) and two weekly flights to Kigali (KGL). A daily service to Marrakesh (RAK) will follow from July 1, further extending its regional network.
Several existing routes are also receiving significant frequency upgrades. Alexandria (HBE) will increase from three weekly flights to as many as seven, while Cairo (CAI) rises from 28 weekly services to up to 35.
Cape Town (CPT) will grow from seven to 10 weekly flights, and Dar es Salaam (DAR) will move from three to seven weekly services.
Flight increases
Additional African routes are also being expanded. Lusaka (LUN)-Harare (HRE) services will increase from five weekly flights to seven, while the Maputo (MPM)-Durban (DUR) route will rise from four to seven weekly flights.
The expansion comes as demand for improved travel connectivity across Africa continues to rise, with Doha serving as a major transit point linking passengers to global destinations.
New route
Qatar Airways is also launching three weekly services to Port Sudan (PZU) from July 2. Flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Flight QR1319 will depart Doha at 9am and arrive in Port Sudan at 11am. The return service, QR1320, departs Port Sudan at 12.25pm and lands in Doha at 4.20pm.
Travellers from markets including Oman and Pakistan will be able to connect through Hamad International Airport for onward journeys.
