UAE travel: Qatar Airways resumes Dubai and Sharjah flights ahead of schedule
Phased expansion targets more than 150 destinations worldwide
DUBAI – Qatar Airways has announced the resumption of flight operations between Doha and key destinations across the Middle East, marking a significant step in the airline’s ongoing network recovery.
Daily services to the United Arab Emirates have been reinstated, with flights to Syria also set to resume in early May. The move comes as the carrier accelerates efforts to rebuild connectivity following recent disruptions to regional airspace.
From 23 April 2026, the airline has resumed daily flights to Dubai International Airport and Sharjah, restoring vital links between Qatar and the UAE. Services to Damascus will follow from 1 May 2026, reintroducing a key route for both business and leisure travellers.
UAE and Syria flights
The latest update signals a faster-than-expected restart for some routes. Qatar Airways had earlier indicated that services between Doha and Dubai would resume in June, making the April relaunch a notable advancement. The airline has also reinstated operations to Sharjah, strengthening its footprint across the UAE.

The resumption follows the partial reopening of Qatari airspace and coordinated efforts led by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to normalise operations. Foreign carriers have also restarted services to Doha, with all flights operating through designated corridors to ensure safety and efficiency.
Qatar Airways said the resumptions form part of a phased restoration of its global network. The airline had confirmed in mid-April that its schedule would expand to more than 150 destinations across six continents from 16 June 2026, underscoring a broader return to pre-disruption capacity.

The revised flight schedule is set to remain valid until 15 September 2026, with daily regional services now available between Doha and the UAE. The addition of Damascus from 1 May further enhances connectivity across the Middle East.
Passengers are being advised to regularly check the airline’s official website or mobile app for updates, as schedules remain subject to operational, regulatory and safety considerations. Travellers are also encouraged to ensure their contact details are up to date to receive timely notifications.
Passenger options
Qatar Airways has outlined a range of flexible travel options for customers affected by recent changes. Passengers holding confirmed bookings for travel between 28 February and 15 September 2026 are eligible for complimentary date changes, allowing rebooking up to 31 October 2026, subject to availability and seasonal fare differences.
If flights are disrupted again, travellers can make additional fee-free changes within the same timeframe. Refunds for unused tickets are also available, although processing may take up to 28 working days.
The airline continues to direct passengers requiring booking assistance or updates to its dedicated travel alerts portal, as it works towards stabilising operations and expanding its network in the coming months.
