Pakistan ambassador in UAE engages Dubai-based business leaders on trade cooperation
Emphasis placed on compliance awareness and market readiness for entrepreneurs
DUBAI – Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Shafqat Ali Khan, has held a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) Dubai at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai, underlining ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The engagement brought together senior diplomatic officials and leading representatives of the Pakistani business community operating in the UAE. Discussions centred on trade facilitation, investment opportunities, and support mechanisms for businesses navigating the UAE market.
The PBC delegation was led by its Chairman, Muhammad Shabbir Merchant, and included management committee members Kamran Ahmed Riaz, Iftikhar Ali Tatlah, Noor Karim Afridi, Saleem Tabani, and Muhammad Iqbal Dawood. Ali Zeb Khan, Trade and Investment Counsellor, along with other consulate officials, also attended the meeting. Ambassador Khan acknowledged the council’s sustained role in promoting economic linkages between Pakistan and the UAE.
Focus on trade
Highlighting the historic and brotherly relations between the two countries, the ambassador described bilateral trade as a key pillar of the partnership. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s and Consulate’s support for PBC initiatives aimed at expanding commercial ties and facilitating the Pakistani business community across the Emirates. The discussion reflected the shared objective of enhancing Pakistan’s commercial footprint in the UAE.
Ambassador Khan encouraged the PBC to play a proactive role in guiding new Pakistani entrepreneurs, particularly by raising awareness of UAE regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and evolving market dynamics. In response, Chairman Muhammad Shabbir Merchant briefed the ambassador on the council’s ongoing initiatives, including advocacy, networking platforms, and capacity-building programmes designed to support and strengthen Pakistani businesses operating in the UAE.
