DUBAI – Dubai awoke to a spectacular sight as 307,000 participants took over Sheikh Zayed Road for Dubai Run 2025, making it the largest community run in the world.

The event, part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, brought together residents, families, corporate groups, athletes, children in strollers, and seniors, all sharing the same track, energy, and spirit. The seventh edition showcased not just fitness, but unity, colour and celebration, with aerial stunts, flags waving, drums beating, and inflatable costumes lighting up the morning.

In an inspiring video posted to his Instagram account, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, thanked the 307,000 participants. The clip, set to ‘The Last Goodbye’ by Odesza featuring Bettye LaVette, featured sweeping drone shots of a sea of blue T-shirts, parachutes flying with UAE flags, and runners stretching across the iconic highway.

“Dubai never stops inspiring,” he wrote in the caption.

The Dubai Run began just after sunrise, with Sheikh Zayed Road transformed into a vast track for both the 5km and 10km routes. Families and friends walked alongside athletes at the starting point while volunteers and marshals encouraged runners with speakers, motivational messages, and signboards guiding the routes. Parachute flags, DJ beats, drummers, and dance added a festive feel to the morning.

Children waved flags, wheelchair participants moved with ease along the accessible track, and seniors walked proudly among younger generations. Participants from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and even overseas travelled in the early hours to take part. Some arrived at metro stations as early as 3am, while others camped in the desert overnight before making their way to the run.

Dubai Fitness Challenge

Sheikh Hamdan’s Dubai Fitness Challenge, founded in 2017, aims to inspire the community to develop healthy habits, encouraging residents to stay active for 30 minutes a day for 30 days. The Dubai Run has become one of its most iconic events, bringing together people of all fitness levels to experience a sense of belonging and collective purpose.

Dubai Police, emergency teams, and volunteers ensured safety, crowd management, and accessibility throughout the event. Waste bins lined the route, and water bottle recycling initiatives reinforced sustainability goals. The route showcased landmark views of Burj Khalifa, Dubai Canal, DIFC, and Downtown Dubai.

Moments of joy

Among the participants were families making memories, corporate teams showing team spirit, and individuals marking personal milestones. One participant, attending her final Dubai Run before moving abroad, said she cherished the opportunity to share it with her mother for the last time. Another family ran with their 11-month-old child, hoping to make it his first unforgettable memory in Dubai.

In a heartwarming moment, Team AngelWolf led the run once again, inspiring crowds with their story of resilience and inclusive sports. Seniors walking alongside toddlers in strollers represented the true spirit of the Dubai Run – a celebration of community, health, and togetherness across generations.

A moving finale

As the final runners crossed the finish line, aerial flags soared overhead one last time. Signages were taken down, roads swept and cleaned, and Sheikh Zayed Road began reopening to traffic by 10am. The Dubai Metro operated frequent trains to transport participants home, marking an efficient and well-coordinated close to the event.

Dubai Fitness Challenge continues until the end of the month, with more community classes, events and wellness activities scheduled across the emirate.
